Moza Banco and Tax Authority (TA) reinforce cooperation

Moza Banco and the Tax Authority of Mozambique (TA), signed last Thursday, two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) in light of which, on one hand, Moza Banco will start issuing Taxpayer Numbers in all its Branches and, on the other hand, undertakes to promote fiscal citizenship through fiscal literacy, customs and tax dissemination.

The signing of the agreements, which took place at the Headquarters of the TA, was made by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Moza, João Figueiredo and the President of the TA of Mozambique, Amélia Nakhare. The ceremony was witnessed by employees of the two institutions.

At the occasion, the Moza Bank’s CEO highlighted the Bank's responsibility to support TA's efforts to broaden the tax base, with a particular focus on massing the Taxpayer Number registry given the importance of fiscal contributions to Mozambique's socio-economic development and socio-economic sustainability.

“Moza Banco, while the only bank with the majority of domestic capital, acknowledges the importance of scrupulous compliance of fiscal and customs obligations for the development and socio-economic sustainability that the country seeks, and for this reason we commit ourselves to participate in TA's efforts aiming at widening the tax base’’

These two agreements will allow obtaining Taxpayer Number in the network of the 55 Moza branches across the country, as well as those to be incorporated shortly as a result of the merger process between Moza and Banco Terra and the 20 new branches planned within the bank's partnership with the Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development (MITADER) under the project "One District, One Bank", said João Figueiredo.

Amélia Nakhare, in turn, said that this act served to witness an example of effort of the two institutions aimed at improving the tax and financial systems in the country.

‘’The financial and tax systems are bonded in the revenue collection process in order to ensure the sustainability of our economy, ‘’ said.

It should be noted that the two MoU also aim to create facilitation mechanisms for the employees of the Tax Authority, once Moza Banco will become an active partner, not only in tax education campaigns, but also in the motivational aspects of the employees, offering a comfortable and personalized treatment through the promotion of a set of services such as family insurance and credit lines facilities.
