Moza Banco supports pre-Olympic basketball tournament.

Moza banco will provide more than one million meticais to support the participation of the National Senior Women's Team in the pre-Olympic basketball tournament, qualifying for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

As part of the Bank’s contribution to the massification of sport, Moza Banco recently signed a partnership agreement with the Mozambican Basketball Federation, for the participation of for the participation of the Women's National Senior Basketball Team in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament for the Olympic Games of Tokyo 2020. The signing of this agreement that took place at Moza Banco's headquarters was witnessed by members of the Government, Moza's Members of the Board of Directors, athletes and representatives of National Sports’ Clubs.

Intervening moments after the signing of the agreement, the Chairman of the Board of Directors (CEO) of Moza Banco said that Moza's focus on sport aims to contribute to the construction of a company with values.

 “We want to build a society of people with values. In sport and particularly in basketball, one learns to have values, to value the group and teamwork. We want to continue to project our activities on sports, cultural and social plan," said the CEO of Moza Banco.

In turn, the President of the Mozambican Basketball Federation, Francisco Mabjaia, welcomed Moza's support, saying that it has promoted sport and basketball in particular.

“The agreement we have already signed is an important catalyst for the effort we are making to raise funds to make the pre-Olympic tournament possible, so we will spare no effort to fully implement this protocol. When we set out to host this event here in Mozambique, it was in the full conviction that ‘at home we are unbeatable’. Our goal is clear: we will be in July 2020 at the Tokyo Olympics Games’’

The “Samorais”, represented by Odélia Mafanela, promised to do their best to honour Moza's support and the national flag for the 2020 Olympics’ Games.

“We are prepared to represent the Mozambicans. We know it will not be an easy journey, but we are convinced that it is not impossible if we strive together to achieve this goal,” encouraged the best scorer of this year's national’s women’ senior basketball championship.

It should be noted that the pre-Olympic basketball qualifying tournament took place from 14 to 17 November this year at the Maxaquene Sports Pavilion in Maputo.
