“Kussila” is the big winner of the Mulher+ (Woman+) Project
11/06/2021

The "Mulher+" competition ended last Saturday, an ICEF initiative in partnership with Moza Banco, with the aim of promoting a culture of female entrepreneurship, creating networking, sharing experiences between women from different professional areas and developing financial literacy activities.

Mulher + is an innovative concept that aims to have a social and economic impact on the world of Mozambican entrepreneurship, highlighting the value of women. The aim of this initiative was to give a voice to the actions, ideas and initiatives of anonymous women whose work creates an impact on the lives of the people around them, local communities, and who can be examples of success for the world in general.

There were 6 groups in total, comprised of 30 women each, which were involved in this project, and the big winner was announced on June 5th. This is the Kussila Group, which presented a food-processing project with the aim of reducing cooking time and improving quality. In the first phase, "Kussila" proposes to process and preserve matapa, fresh coconut, peanuts and garlic, essential food products in the daily life of Mozambican families. The winning group received funding from Moza Banco for having presented the best project, according to the jury's classification.

This partnership represents another clear demonstration of the importance that Moza Banco places on entrepreneurship and promotion of sustainable businesses through consistent support to initiatives with the potential of adding value to the national economy and the country as a whole.

Moza Banco supports national champion of Judo
19/05/2021

The bank will support the participation of Jacira Ferreira, national Judo champion, in the African Judo Championship.

As part of its contribution to the growth of sport and an appreciation for Mozambican athletes, Moza Banco recently supported the participation of the national judo team athlete, Jacira Ferreira, in several competitions scheduled for this year, especially the African Judo Championship, to be held between the 20th and 23rd of this month in Dakar, Senegal. The event serves to qualify for the World Championships, scheduled for June.

Jacira Ferreira has been national champion for the last 6 years and is currently the number 1 female judo athlete in Mozambique, in the “52Kg” category, and the second best in the ranking for qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games.

This athlete, in 2015 at just 17 years of age, was the first female judoka to participate at the Congo Brazaville Games. Later, at the age of 19, Jacira Ferreira also took part at the World Senior Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The athlete was also the first woman judoka to participate at the World Judo Championships in 2017, at three World Championships and she has also been present twice at the African Games.

In her curriculum, she also has a bronze medal at the African Judo Open in Yaoundé, in Cameroon, a silver medal at the AUSC Games (Region 5), 2 bronze medals at the SAJC (Zone 6 Judo Championship) and also 2 gold medals and 4 silver medals at the Judo South Africa Open (SA Open).

This initiative of Moza Banco comes within the ambit of support for the internationalisation of national sport, as a vehicle for projecting the country globally.

At the end of 2019, Moza Banco signed a partnership agreement with the Mozambican Basketball Federation for the participation of the national senior women's basketball team in the pre-Olympic qualifying tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
